Web Designer

Department: Marketing
Location: , WV

At The 20, we build beautiful, high-converting websites for SMB clients who rely on their digital presence to grow. We’re seeking a creative and detail-oriented Web Designer who thrives in WordPress—particularly with Divi and Bricks - to help bring brand visions to life with functional, modular, and scalable websites.

You’ll play a critical role in transforming static designs and brand guidelines into high-performing websites. From project kickoff to post-launch support, you’ll own timelines, collaborate cross-functionally, and ensure a smooth delivery experience for clients and agency partners alike.

To help us understand your skills and style, please include a portfolio showcasing live websites or projects you’ve designed and built, preferably using WordPress with Divi and/or Bricks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build responsive, visually appealing websites in WordPress using Divi or Bricks.
  • Turn design comps, wireframes, or brand guides into modular templates and reusable site architectures.
  • Manage website projects end-to-end: scope, schedule, updates, QA, and launch.
  • Configure dynamic content using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), CPTs, and taxonomies.
  • Maintain and optimize existing sites (updates, performance, security, and UX).
  • Collaborate with clients, internal stakeholders, and agency partners to gather requirements and deliver clear communication at each stage.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, styling issues, and third-party integration hiccups.
  • Leverage AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) to accelerate design, content, and QA.
  • Document processes and contribute to our internal SOPs and template library.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–5 years of web design experience with a strong WordPress foundation.
  • Deep working knowledge of Divi and Bricks builders (beyond drag-and-drop basics).
  • Solid understanding of WordPress theme hierarchy, hooks & filters, CPTs, and multisite.
  • Experience translating static designs into responsive, accessible layouts.
  • Proficient with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), template logic, and dynamic content structures.
  • Familiarity with performance optimization best practices: image compression, caching strategies, and Lighthouse troubleshooting.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills: clear project updates, task documentation, and Loom walkthroughs.
  • Self-starter who owns projects from kickoff to post-launch support.
  • Organized multitasker who can manage 5–8 active client websites simultaneously.
  • Client-centric communicator focused on outcomes—not just visuals.
  • Proactive problem-solver with attention to detail.
  • Growth-oriented and open to feedback and continuous learning.

Preferable Qualifications

  • Light PHP/JavaScript for extending Divi/Bricks via custom functions or plugins.
  • Workflow automation using Zapier, n8n, or WP-CLI scripts.
  • Familiarity with version control tools like Git, staging environments, and safe deployment practices.
  • Experience with IT Glue or other documentation platforms.
  • Styling expertise with Tailwind CSS, SCSS, or other utility-first frameworks.
  • Experience with WooCommerce or Easy Digital Downloads.
  • Understanding of SEO fundamentals: schema markup, metadata optimization, and technical audits.
